What is the Criminal Justice System?

The Department of Corrections is part of a criminal justice system that includes hundreds of city, county, state and federal agencies. They include:

  • Police Departments
  • Sheriff’s Departments
  • Prosecutors
  • Defense Attorneys
  • Superior Courts
  • County Jails
  • State Prisons
