Well, they could stop her from entering the US because she is a convicted criminal and not a US citizen, and is therefore undesirable in the eyes of the US government. I'm not saying that they will, just that they might, so if I were your friend I would stay in the US. If they DID stop her, the worst case is that they would deny her entry into the US and they would place her (at her expense) on the next plane back to the country she came from.

I would listen to the immigration lawyer over the criminal lawyer, because immigration law is where you need the specialty. Ask a few of them, because some tend to have different answers.
If they won't let her back in, that is not the same as deporting her. Deporting her would be coming to her house, and taking her to the border, or the airport, and making her leave the country.
There may be some stipulation that if you commit a crime, you cannot leave the country for a certain period of time. You can usually find the law yourself at http://www.uscis.gov
You may think your friend is innocent, or whatever, but the bottom line is now she has a record. That will have to be dealt with.
im really sorry but it seems as moral turpitude does ban anyone from being able to come into the USA , so if she travels out and then tries to comeback then it is very likely than she would be denied entry , which is not equal to being deported because she would not even be allowed inside in the first place . if i was her i would seek other alternatives and would not even dare leaving the USA . please ask her to check with a really good immigration lawyer .
If she leaves the country and tries to re-enter, a crime of moral turpitude like embezzelment is enough to prevent her re-entry.
There would be nothing else done after she serves her sentence, just the denial of a green card re-issue, and no re-entry into the U.S.

In order to deport her they have to bring her before a judge and go through why they want to deport her etc. It may or may not happen and they have other people here that are worse.
On the other hand if she leaves she can be refused entry and banned for 5 years no questions asked!

If her husband is a U.S. Citizen, she should be able to file a waiver and not get deported. She should definitely get it resolved before leaving the country, since if she does not have a waiver she will likely be turned around at point of entry.

she has nothing to worry about,it was just a misdemeanor.the govt can not track all people convicted of a misdemeanor so there is no system in place to let the border police know of it.being deported for a misdemeanor is not even a possibility.complete the probation set by the court and as soon as the time ends go to court and get your record expunged. not really much to worry about,but you did get some bad info.
